  Don't follow sat nav but the directions on site. We never had any problems parking parked outside front door every day during our stay. Can't praise it enough 5 star.

• "Incredible cottage has everything you need ,shops nearby ,pubs nearby and lots to do and places near enough to visit."

  Our 2nd visit in 2years ,stopped here the same week ( Christmas week) back in 2022. Liked the new edition of the rechargeable torches on the first landing so you could go up the stairs to the next level. No hesitation in going back for a third time just love it.

• "We have stayed at quite a few cottages with Sykes and this we found was so good my wife said this is how I want my house."

  Having said that, the cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and inviting, we had our young granddaughter with us and having the high chair and stairgate were a welcome bonus along with the travel cot. We had a great week visiting places around the area. Top marks for your lovely cottage.

• "This is our second stay at Potter Hill Cottage and we love it."

  The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable, it has everything you could possibly need it really is home from home. On street parking and every day we got parked outside the cottage. Only a short walk into the centre of Pickering with lovely shops, pubs and restaurants and a great base for exploring with so many nice places close by. The welcome hamper was a lovely thoughts and the hosts kept in touch checking everything was ok. We will definitely return and couldn't recommend this cottage enough.

  Immaculately clean and all the comforts of home. The owners were always on standby should we need anything, which we didn't as everything we needed was in the accommodation. Only a 5 minute walk into the town centre, pub around the corner and supermarkets also a 5 minute walk. Would definitely go again and highly recommend this stunning little cottage.

  We spent 4 days at the cottage and OMG we were not disappointed. The home was immaculately clean and a gorgeous welcome basket made us feel welcome. Everything we could need and more available and the beds extremely comfortable. Nice to be able to sit in the patio garden and location very peaceful. On street parking but we never had any issues parking. The owners texted to say we could check in early and also not to rush with the check out, so thank you for that. Already looking to rebook.

  There were 5 of us and found the house very comfortable and immaculately clean. Everything that you could possibly need was provided. Lovely welcome basket on our arrival. Such attention to detail and very well cared for. The house was ready before 4 and they kindly messaged us to let us know. Location is fantastic. Short walk (5 mins) to all amenities and the beautiful centre of Pickering. Hope to be back!

• "Myself, my wife and our Spaniel Jarvis stayed here from the 8th March 2024."

  We have stayed in many cottages across the country. Your cottage has been the best we have stayed in. The attention to detail, the quality of the furnishings, and the ambience of the cottage is brilliant. We arrived late on a Friday night. We were welcomed by a warm front room, with a welcome basket. We immediately felt at home. We spent a lot of days exploring the local area, however we really enjoyed coming back to your cottage to relax, make some lovely food in your well equipped kitchen and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere you have created. We both work very hard in our lives and this was a lovely haven of peace. Thank you Mel and Irene, you literally have the best rental property in Yorkshire. We will definitely be booking again. For other Potential guests: Russell’s bakery in the market place is stunning. Lovely produce and amazing cakes!! Nosh, they do lovely food, from breakfast through to lunch, using local produce where they can. My wife is coeliac and we have managed to negotiate this well in Pickering. Capplemans is a fish and chip restaurant that caters for coeliacs and gluten free diners. It’s collection only, but it’s a 5 minute walk from the cottage. It’s worth it! Previous guests have mentioned the on street parking issues. We managed to park on the street, not necessarily in the same spot, but not far at all. Thanks again!! We will be back soon!!

  Great communications from the off, very clean, well equipped, warm, everything just worked really well. Also a great location just off of Pickering town centre, with a top pub just around the corner! No dedicated parking, but with a bit of common sense and effort, everyone was happy. We'd love to return to the area, so Potter Hill Cottage will be our first port of call when we do.

• "Having stopped at 3 other cottages next to the train station over the past 3 years and been a bit disappointed we decided to look at other cottages in Pickering."

  We quickly found potter hill and read the reviews sounded amazing so booked for 3rd November. owner contacted me to say cottage was available early at 2,30 which was nice, opening the door to the cottage we couldn't believe how well presented it was spotlessly clean throughout, cottage was lovely and warm very nice welcome hamper and milk in the fridge. kitchen was amazing everything you could possibly need all pots and pans including 2 frying pans spotless like new , cooker looked as if had never been used I cannot praise the cleanliness of this cottage enough, little things like kitchen foil, baking paper, wash tabs for the washer and tabs for dish washer , upstairs really nice shower very comfortable bed, towels and bedding lovely and fresh, As described in the description of the cottage stairs are a bit steep but after using them a couple of times you get used to them I would highly recommend potter hill cottage and cannot wait until we can come back A very big thank you to Mel and Irene for letting us use your beautiful cottage

• "September 8th 2023 This was a lovely cottage."

  It was very clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped. The owners had obviously put a great deal of thought in providing everything a holiday maker would need. The cottage was ideally situated just five minutes away from two big supermarkets and also near transport links. We actually didn't use our car all week prefering to use our bus passes to travel to the places we wished to visit. We were sorry to not meet the owners during our stay. We would thoroughly recommend family and friends to stay there..

  It was very clean, very comfortable and very well equipped with everything you might need being provided, as well as a generous welcome pack and milk in the fridge. All the furniture was of a good quality and it felt more like a home than a holiday cottage. It is obvious that the owners have put a lot of effort into making this cottage perfect for holidays. The location was excellent as well - being a short walk into the centre of Pickering and an even shorter walk to the Sun Inn - excellent real ales and the very good Potter Hill Fish and Chip shop. All in all - highly recommended!

• "The cottage was beautiful and ideally located to visit the moors, Whitby, Scarborough and the many English heritage abbeys and castles in the area."

  The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well stocked with everything you could think of and lots of little things easily forgotten from home. They even provided three fans to help keep us cool! We had a welcome text when we arrived and the owners messaged us on the day of departure saying we didn't have to rush out. Not intrusive but we knew the owners were there if we needed. The local area had a pub, fish and chip shop and a supermarket all within a very short walking distance. The local community was very friendly. The whole holiday was just perfect. Thanks to the owners for everything!

• "The house was in immaculate condition, quality bedding and towels - indeed, quality throughout!"

  The galley kitchen is extremely well designe, lwith all appliances to hand and light floods in through the window and the ewroof window. The bedrooms were beautifully furnished and the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom, likewise, was very well presented. Overall, a beautifully presented and exremely comfortable cottage.

• "Lovely cottage just a short walk into the centre of Pickering."

  Walks from the door to the castle and beyond. The cottage was very well equipped and felt more like a home than a let. My daughter loves her own little room and the night lights were a nice touch. The courtyard was large enough for our small dog to have a sniff around and we loved how dog friendly Pickering is. Highly recommend Nosh, Feast and the Black Swan for food and drink with your pooch. We managed to park right outside no problem.

• "Potter Hill Cottage is beautifully decorated while still being cosy and inviting."

  It has everything we needed for the perfect self-catering holiday. The location is great, just a short walk to the shops and plenty of nearby open spaces for walking our dog. The parking is on-street but we never had a problem finding a spot near the Cottage. Communication with the owners was easy and they responded quickly to any queries we had. We loved staying in Potter Hill Cottage and will definitely look to see if it's available for our next visit to Pickering.

• "We had a lovely stay at Potter Hill Cottage."

  The cottage was really warm and cozy as well as being absolutely immaculate and well equipped, well done to the turn around team. I’ve never seen such a neat and tidy kitchen in a holiday let. Everything close at hand in Pickering and all very dog friendly. We had a few lovely meals in neighbouring village pubs. We rented it for two of us and the dog but our kids in their twenties came for the weekend and were jealous that we got to stay all week. Lovely days out at Scarborough, Whitby and Filey even in January. Would definitely recommend

• "Beautiful property in a perfect location, a short walk away from the town."

  Very clean , comfortable accommodation. Warm and spacious and a well equipped kitchen. Beautiful welcome basket . The most comfortable beds I've ever stayed in , great shower and facilities. A highly recommended property - would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to family or friends. Managed to park daily outside the property and excellent communication from the property owners. There were no negatives to report from our stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our new year visit - thank you.

• "One of the best cottages we have stayed in ,was lovely to arrive on a cold wet evening and to be greeted with a clean and warm cottage and great welcoming pack ,on top of that a great location for many trips out over the week we were there."

• "Thank you for the welcome basket and milk."

  The fans for each bedroom were a welcome addition. Could maybe do with a few more pegs for the washing line but otherwise there was plenty of everything. Great location, a few occasions when we couldn’t park outside but we used a nearby street so all fine. Perfect for exploring Pickering itself and the North Yorkshire Moors & coast.

  Very spacious, fantastic shower and well kitted out kitchen. Nice, short walk to the steam railway and town. Welcome basket and milk was a nice touch. We were very lucky with the weather but a clothes airer would be useful for when it's raining. We would stay again and will recommend to others.

• "Excellent house in quiet location with gorgeous bathroom and shower."

  The whole house was spotlessly clean, modern and inviting. Lovely new kitchen with all essentials was another bonus. A very nice base to explore the forests with our cocker. We will definitely be back as we love Pickering. Highly recommended is the chip shop 30 metres up the road and spice 4U if one prefers a curry.

• "This tastefully renovated house was a very comfortable and cosy retreat during a wet and windy week in February."

  Parking is on street but we never had problems finding a space. The chippy at the end of the road is excellent. Pickering is a lovely little town, perfectly situated for visits to the moors, York, Whitby and the coast. Would definitely recommend.

• "What a fantastic cottage!"

  The pictures make the cottage look amazing but it is even better in real life. When we arrived, there was a welcome pack which was over and above our expectations - milk, biscuits, crisps, treats for our dog, even a bottle of wine- a lovely touch that we didn't expect. The beds were really comfortable too. Location-wise, it was perfect for us. We had a fantastic holiday and we will definitely return - we would love to stay here again. • "We had a fantastic week in this lovely cottage, it was like home from home with everything that you could need."

  It had a lovely welcome hamper which was greatly appreciated as well as milk in the fridge! It was a short walk into Pickering with lovely shops, cafes and pubs. We found it a great base for visiting Scarborough, Whitby and York all our favourite places. The only downside was the parking unfortunatly our car got hit outside on our last night, this does not reflect the cottage at all as we loved it but just to be aware it is a very narrow street with double sided parking.

  Kitchen well equipped. Lovely bedrooms. Great to beable to walk into the pretty town and within walking distance of supermarkets-- Lidl and Co op. Quite a good base to visit other places eg; York, Whitby, Scarborough Only downside is no designated parking. Would recommend and would visit again.
